PROBUS Clubs were formed to bring together retired or semi-retired PROfessional and BUSinessmen who appreciate and value opportunities to meet others in similar circumstances and of a similar level of interest. Currently there are over 1500 such clubs in the UK.
The Kyrle PROBUS Club of Ross-on-Wye was formed in 1982 but is being relaunched post COVID-19 lockdown. There are now approximately 25 members who have confirmed they will be returning to club meetings. We intend to hold regular meetings at the Royal Hotel, Ross on the third Tuesday of each month. At each of our regular meetings there is a 45 minute talk (approximately), given either by a member, a physically present guest speaker or a program using other media – the range of topics is huge, but always interesting! Most of our members have come to retire to Ross-on-Wye from other places. Many having spent time working in foreign countries and with demanding occupations. These experiences are shared with the members during the talks, over lunches and on outings.
The Club organizes a wide range of social events throughout the year which are open to wives, partners, and member’s guests.
